Adjacent to Mt Best, Strzelecki State Forest contains some of the tallest eucalyptus trees in Australia. To scale them in the picture on the right above, consider that the road is about 5 m wide. Australia is in general a dry continent, but at Mt Best the rainfall exceeds 1 meter per year, so that the lush rainforest flourishes all year round.

At the bottom of nearly every gully is a creek, some of them with quite spectacular waterfalls.
