Black tiger snakes are common to Bass Strait islands between Australia and Tasmania, where they eat mutton birds. Black tiger snakes are larger and have more potent venom than typical tiger snakes. It turns out that black tiger snakes also exist on Australia's mainland, but they are quite rare there. The photo shows a large black tiger snake with a yellow lip at Mt Best. The snake is about 1.5 m long and it seems to feed on rabbits.
